48 Hours in Georgetown, TX

December 2, 2019

HI! I’m Molly.

Here to encourage you on your own bold pursuit of intentional living as I live out my own. I’m passionate about running, spending time doing what I love and cheering others on to approach running with joy.

I recently had a mini weekend getaway to Georgetown and want to share with you how to spend 48 hours in Georgetown, TX!

You’ve likely driven through Georgetown if you’ve been to Austin before. It’s a cute little town of 75,000 people and located about 30 miles north of Austin. It’s been dubbed the “most beautiful town square in Texas” and I agree with that statement - it’s adorable! While there is a college in Georgetown, I felt like I didn’t see anyone my age haha. I went by myself and it was the perfect place to recharge. I loved the outdoor activities paired with the slow-paced activities. Keep reading for how to spend 48 hours in Georgetown, TX:

WHERE TO STAY

I was WOW-ed from the second I walked into the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel. It has giant windows opening up to a view of gorgeous green trees from the lobby and the BEST part of the Sheraton...their close access to the trail - it opens up right to it! All of the service here was great and the staff was so kind. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you can. The location is also phenomenal. I felt like I only had to drive 10 minutes max to most places!

WHAT TO DO

Pop into all the stores along the square I LOVED walking into all the fun stores - everything from an antique store to a hat store to a guitar store. You cannot miss the Antique Store while here, the owner was beyond kind and they have so many treasures here. I almost bought a ring haha! Bike the San Gabriel Trail This was absolutely the highlight of my trip. I felt so refreshed after biking for nine miles and saw SO many deer during it! I freaked out at the first one and then realized I was going to be seeing them for the rest of my ride haha. I used a bike from the Sheraton (you can rent for free) and thought the trail was perfectly marked. Visit the Wineries They have three wine tasting rooms on the square- Grape Creek, Georgetown, and the newest, Baron's Creek! This is a fun pre-dinner activity. It's cool to have wine mostly from Texas, too!

Take a walk (or hop in) along the Blue Hole I was so surprised by how beautiful and vibrant it is! I walked alongside it for a bit and I can only imagine how nice it is to hop in during the summer!Take a historical walking tour I know I’m not the only one who loves learning the history of a city. I went on a walking tour put on by the Visitor’s Center and my guide shared so many fascinating facts I don’t think I would’ve learned otherwise. She also shared about all the fun festivities they put on and I was able to attend one that night!

WHERE TO EAT

El Monumento Definitely get reservations here if you plan on coming! I went as a grand party of one and still could only order at the bar because it was so crowded. I sat out on their cute patio and loved the feel of the entire place and loved the taste of everything I ordered :) 600 Degrees Pizzeria This pizza is quite literally bigger than your face. It’s right in the square and a great lunch spot as you wander around the area. I got the Hawaiian pizza and thought it was soooo good.Woops! Bakery So cute! This bakery is right by the Sheraton and is so adorable. It’s bright white with gold and I wish I could’ve tried everything. I ordered macaroons and naturally I loved them all. The Monument Cafe This looked to be a v popular local spot and I headed right up to the bar to get seated immediately instead of waiting. I was craving pancakes and they did not disappoint.

Georgetown WAY exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to go back! Be sure to check out my vlog I put together from my time there, too!
